Hi! My name is Erin Elliott and I am a general dentist and owner at Post Falls Family Dental in North Idaho.
I joined the practice soon after my graduation from Creighton Dental School in 2003. I was a good little general dentist and by that I mean that I drilled and filled and referred. I did the dentistry I was taught in dental school and nothing beyond that.
In 2008, I discovered that dentists could be part of a patient's journey for a better night's sleep. Consultants told my partner "Sleep doesn't work in dental offices" or "Patients never say yes" or "Medical insurance is impossible."
But I was a dog on a bone. I didn't give up because I knew there were so many patients within our practice that were going undiagnosed and untreated because the symptoms they were experiencing were covered up by a pill or they just couldn't do the one and only treatment option given to them (CPAP).
So I did what I knew to do. I created systems, I trained the team on how to talk to patients, I removed barriers for patients so they didn't give up midway through the traditional medical pathway and lastly, we learned how to medical bill.
