Being a dentist is not easy.  Being a dentist AND a business owner is hard.  The struggles of overhead, employees, pressures of family life, social pressures, and of course dental insurnace.  How do I know this?  Because just like you I have an everyday dental practice that participates with dental insurance and faces these same struggles.

I fall into that same trap.  The difference is that I regularly attend events like SIROWorld and get humbled.  When I get outside my bubble I gain a new perspective of what is possible.  I meet, learn from, and hang out with the best of the best.  The average of those around me goes up.

Being competitive, this gets me disrupted.  And this disruption leads to thought.  Thought leads to action.  Action leads to movement.  Movement leads to change.  And when change starts with disruption – it is a lasting change.

I promise you that shear force of osmosis you will get disrupted.

With respect I say the following.  Those state meetings are a total waste of time.  They are run by ‘old farts’ who have lost perspective of dentistry in 2016.

Dentistry in 2016 is dynamic.  You can no longer practice dentistry in 2016 with business principles of the 1980’s.

Let me say that again……You can no longer practice 2016 dentistry following 1980’s business principles.

You need a different perspective.  You need fresh ideas.  You need to learn about a wide range of topics.  You need to be pushed.
